How to Export Your LinkedIn Contacts

In this article and video tutorial, I’ll show you how to export your connections in LinkedIn (including email address) to a spreadsheet or csv file. Once you know how, it’s very simple. However the “Export Connections” button is not easy to find – unless you know where to look!

If you don’t want to watch the video, here’s the Step-by-Step:

  1. On the top navigation menu, click the button that says “Me” (the one with your profile picture).
  2. Select “Settings & Privacy”
  3. Scroll down and click “Download your Data”

From there, it’s straight forward.  Just follow the on-screen instructions.

Want a short-cut?  Simply “cut and paste” the following URL into your browser:

​Exporting your LinkedIn Connections can be useful in order to import or merge the data into your Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Applicant Tracking System (ATS) or recruitment software. Then you’ll be able to contact your LinkedIn connections directly from inside your contact management system.

Now for the bad news…

​The Connections file LinkedIn gives you only contains limited information – First Name, Last Name, Email, Job Title, Tags. 

If you want the full contact record, including PHONE NUMBER then there are several good tools and extensions available to extract that data.  Be aware that these tools contravene LinkedIn’s Terms of Use.
